With the election a few days away, it is hard to write (or think) about anything else. I want to encourage you to go vote – even if you never do. But before you do that, have a real conversation with someone who politically disagrees with you, and hear them out. Encourage them to share what they love about their candidate’s positions and policies & what they are bringing to the table, that maybe you were unaware of. Vote for the world you want, from a place of love – not from a place of hate...not empowered by fear, but with the vision of what is possible for the world you want to live in. Vote for policy, not personalities. Listen to the candidate you weren’t going to vote for, and hear what they are really saying, with your own ears and not just the sound bites you hear echoed in your filter bubble, spun to create more division.
We are told that we should never discuss politics, but I disagree. Everyone wants what is best for this country & their fellow Americans – they just have different opinions on the road to get there, just like religion, or the ideal diet. Your friends and coworkers aren’t terrible people possessed by demonic entities because they disagree with your political position…so open your heart & your mind, and have a conversation that may shift your perspective and open up a whole new way of looking at things. Be the change you want to see in the world.
This planet & country is not going to heal itself, if we keep hating on each other. Let's create the fertile soil though which real change is sown & grown.
United we stand, divided we fall,
